What this trial studies
This interventional study evaluates the impact of a structured exercise program on patients suffering from diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). It compares the effects of a well-defined exercise regimen against a non-structured exercise program over a four-week period. The study aims to measure outcomes related to pain, sensory symptoms, balance, vibration sense, and overall quality of life in participants aged 40 to 70 with moderate to severe DPN. By assessing these parameters, the study seeks to determine the effectiveness of structured exercise as an adjunct to general lower limb exercise.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 40 to 70 with moderate to severe diabetic peripheral neuropathy who are capable of independent walking.
Not a fit: Patients with active plantar ulcers or other neurological diseases unrelated to diabetic peripheral neuropathy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the quality of life and symptom management for patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with structured exercise programs for similar conditions, indicating potential for success in this approach.
