What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effects of hip abductor strengthening exercises on patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis. It aims to assess improvements in pain, range of motion, functional disability, and balance among participants aged 40 to 60 who have experienced knee pain for at least three months. The study will compare the outcomes of those undergoing hip strengthening exercises with those receiving conventional treatment. By focusing on the hip abductor muscles, the trial seeks to determine if enhancing their strength can alleviate knee-related symptoms and improve overall function.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 40-60 with knee pain lasting three months or more and a pain severity rating of at least 4 on a numeric scale.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of lower limb surgery, hip osteoarthritis, or recent corticosteroid injections may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce knee pain and improve mobility for patients with knee osteoarthritis.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of hip abductor strengthening for knee osteoarthritis is less common, similar interventions targeting muscle strengthening have shown promise in improving outcomes for osteoarthritis patients.
Eligibility criteria
