What this trial studies

SPARK-Healthy Sleep is a randomized, wait-list controlled pilot testing a single-session digital intervention delivered via a smartphone/Qualtrics platform for college students at risk for psychosis who have sleep problems. Participants (target n=115) are randomized 1:1 to immediate access or a 3-week delayed access, with stratification by race, gender, and age; the trial is unblinded. The 30-minute intervention combines brief stigma-reduction education about mental health as a continuum with evidence-based CBT-I techniques targeted to improve sleep. Primary aims are feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary signals of effectiveness on sleep quality and stigma-related attitudes in this student sample.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are English-fluent Indiana University–Indianapolis students aged 18 or older who endorse psychotic-like experiences (PQ‑B score ≥7), report poor sleep (PSQI >5), and pass validity screening.

Not a fit: Students with a prior diagnosed psychotic disorder or those without current sleep problems are unlikely to benefit from this single-session intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could help at-risk students sleep better and feel more comfortable seeking mental health help.

How similar studies have performed: Digital CBT-I has shown benefit for insomnia, but single-session interventions that combine stigma reduction with sleep skills for psychosis-risk students are relatively novel with limited prior evidence.
