What this trial studies
This randomized interventional study compares an 8-week home-based multimodal exercise program delivered via a smartphone app with a supervised multimodal exercise program and an education-only arm in early postmenopausal women. Participants are women aged 45–65 who are within six years after menopause and meet inclusion and exclusion criteria. Primary outcomes include short-term changes in quality of life, muscle function, and physical performance, with longer-term follow-up to assess persistence of effects. The intervention combines strength, balance, and aerobic components with app-based monitoring and guidance.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 45–65 who have been postmenopausal for at least 12 months and within six years of menopause, are not regularly exercising more than twice weekly, have BMI ≤ 35 kg/m², and do not have recent hormone therapy, major neurological or cardiovascular disease, or certain pelvic malignancies or surgeries.
Not a fit: Women who already exercise regularly, have uncontrolled cardiovascular or neurological conditions, recent hormone therapy, a BMI over 35, or a history of pelvic malignancy or major pelvic surgery are unlikely to benefit or may be excluded.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the program could provide a convenient, scalable way to improve quality of life, muscle strength, and long-term physical health for early postmenopausal women.
How similar studies have performed: Previous exercise trials in menopausal women have improved symptoms, muscle function, and quality of life, and early studies of app-based programs show promising short-term results though long-term evidence is limited.
