What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of a combined approach using Single-step Functional Sinus Endoscopy and Transoral Surgery for treating maxillary sinusitis resulting from odontogenic causes. It aims to address the lack of consensus among specialists regarding the optimal treatment for this specific type of sinusitis. By integrating the expertise of ENT specialists and dental/maxillofacial surgeons, the study seeks to provide a comprehensive treatment protocol. Participants will be those diagnosed with odontogenic maxillary sinusitis that has not responded to conventional dental or medical treatments.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with odontogenic maxillary sinusitis that has not improved with standard dental or medical treatments.

Not a fit: Patients with maxillary sinus malignancy, previous sinus surgeries, or non-odontogenic sinusitis may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a more effective treatment option for patients suffering from odontogenic maxillary sinusitis.

How similar studies have performed: While there are various surgical techniques for treating odontogenic maxillary sinusitis, this specific integrated approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
