What this trial studies

This observational study aims to identify and screen vulnerable populations in Barcelona for active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). Participants will attend an informational session about TB, followed by an interview and screening for TB symptoms such as cough, fever, and weight loss. Those who screen positive will be referred for further diagnostic testing, including chest X-rays and lab tests. The study focuses on high-risk groups, including refugees and other vulnerable populations, to improve early detection and treatment of TB.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals belonging to populations at high risk for tuberculosis.

Not a fit: Patients who do not belong to a high-risk population for tuberculosis may not receive any benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to earlier detection and treatment of tuberculosis in high-risk populations, potentially reducing the spread of the disease.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in screening high-risk populations for tuberculosis, indicating that this approach is both tested and effective.
