What this trial studies

This interventional study investigates the presence of HPV in men who have sex with men (MSM) who are undergoing Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV. Participants will receive anal swabs for HPV genotyping and cytology during their PrEP consultations at Besançon University Hospital. The study will last for three months, during which results from the samples will be collected and analyzed. Additionally, a medical proctology consultation may be offered based on the screening results.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are men who have sex with men and are currently using Pre-exposure Prophylaxis for HIV.

Not a fit: Patients who are women, under 18, or have a history of HPV-related cancer will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding and management of HPV in MSM, potentially leading to better preventive strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While this specific approach may be novel, similar studies have shown the importance of screening for HPV in high-risk populations.
