What this trial studies
This observational study aims to determine the prevalence of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) among people who inject drugs (PWID) in Armenia, Colombia. Participants aged 18 to 65 who have used injected psychoactive substances in the last six months will be screened using a rapid HCV antibody test, followed by confirmation with viral load PCR for those who test positive. The study will also provide support to facilitate treatment and linkage to care for affected individuals. By employing a respondent-driven sampling method, the study seeks to obtain a statistically valid sample of the PWID population in the area.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to respond to the survey due to physical or cognitive limitations, or those who refuse to participate, will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
