What this trial studies
This project focuses on screening and early intervention for high-risk youth in diverse communities, particularly those facing health disparities. It utilizes a combination of online screening tools and community-based settings to assess psychiatric symptoms and functional impairment among high school students. Participants will be classified into tiers based on their mental health status, allowing for targeted interventions. The study aims to address the underrepresentation of racial and ethnic minority youth in mental health research and provide relevant findings during challenging socio-economic times.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are high school students fluent in English, Haitian-Creole, Portuguese, or Spanish, residing in the Cambridge Health Alliance catchment area.
Not a fit: Patients who are already receiving behavioral health care or are seriously suicidal may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve mental health outcomes and reduce disparities for high-risk youth in underserved communities.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using technology for mental health screening in diverse populations, but this specific approach is innovative and tailored to address unique community needs.
