What this trial studies
The project will translate and culturally adapt the HPS-6 into Romanian and administer it to native Romanian-speaking adults aged 18–50 at Babeș-Bolyai University. Eligible participants without current high suicide risk or active substance use will complete the HPS-6 and related questionnaires. Psychometric analyses will evaluate internal consistency, factor structure, and screening accuracy against clinical indicators. The goal is to create a brief, validated screening tool usable in Romanian clinical and community settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are native Romanian speakers aged 18–50 with intact reading comprehension who are not currently at high suicide risk or experiencing active substance or alcohol use disorders.
Not a fit: People outside the 18–50 age range, non-native Romanian speakers, those with current high suicide risk, active SUD/AUD, or significant cognitive impairment are unlikely to benefit from this screening validation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this could provide a quick, culturally appropriate screening tool to help identify people at risk for bipolar disorder earlier and guide timely referral.
How similar studies have performed: Short versions of the Hypomanic Personality Scale and related hypomania screening tools have been validated in other countries and generally show acceptable reliability and screening performance.
