What this trial studies
This is a prospective observational study that collects perioperative and early postoperative outcomes for patients having a robotic-assisted right colectomy using the DEXTER robotic system. Data will be gathered at multiple European centers and include intraoperative details, complications, and a 30-day follow-up per standard of care. The protocol excludes patients with prior radiotherapy to the surgical area, distant metastases, planned concomitant procedures, or a history of major abdominal surgery. No randomization or comparison arm is specified; the focus is on confirming clinical performance and safety signals in routine surgical practice.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults over 18 scheduled for a robotic-assisted right colectomy who can complete a 30-day follow-up and do not have prior radiotherapy to the target area, distant metastasis, planned additional procedures, or major prior abdominal surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with distant metastasis, prior radiotherapy on the target area, planned concomitant procedures, or a history of major abdominal surgery are excluded and unlikely to be helped by participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could support wider use of the DEXTER system as a safe option for right colectomy and inform surgeons about early postoperative outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Robotic right colectomy using other robotic platforms has shown feasibility and comparable early outcomes to laparoscopy in prior reports, while evidence specific to the DEXTER system is more limited.
