What this trial studies
This project aims to monitor outcomes following extended lymphadenectomy during right-sided colon resections for cancer, utilizing various surgical techniques including open, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted methods. Patients undergoing surgery for right-sided colon cancer will be included, with those receiving standard procedures serving as a control group. The study is conducted at Haukeland University Hospital, where surgical approaches are determined by a multidisciplinary team. The research seeks to clarify the benefits and risks associated with more radical surgical techniques compared to standard practices.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults diagnosed with malignant tumors of the right colon who are medically cleared for surgery.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years or those with recurrent cancer after previous surgery may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve surgical outcomes and survival rates for patients with right-sided colon cancer.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar surgical approaches, although this specific methodology is still under evaluation.
