What this trial studies

This is an observational survey that collects clinical history and patient-reported information to map behavioural and cardiovascular risk profiles in people with genetic aortopathies. Data will include lifestyle factors, pregnancy-related events, menopausal status, psychological measures, eating disorders, and comorbid autoimmune or inflammatory bowel disease to explore how these factors interact. Information is gathered at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato using questionnaires and clinical records without experimental interventions. The goal is to define patterns that could inform improved risk stratification and supportive care for this population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults with a genetic thoracic aortic aneurysm who can read, write, and speak Italian and are able to give informed consent are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People without a genetic aortopathy, those who cannot communicate in Italian, or those needing immediate surgical intervention are unlikely to benefit directly from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help tailor monitoring and lifestyle or psychosocial support to reduce complications and improve quality of life for people with genetic aortic disease.

How similar studies have performed: Previous observational work has linked lifestyle and reproductive factors to aortic risk, but the combined role of psychological factors and autoimmune/inflammatory bowel disease in this population is relatively untested.
