What this trial studies
This observational study aims to retrospectively analyze data on malignant tumors that arise primarily in the pelvis and pelvic organs in pediatric patients. Conducted at the South Egypt Cancer Institute, the largest referral site in Upper Egypt, the study will categorize these malignancies based on their morphology and primary site of occurrence. It will involve reviewing medical reports of pediatric cancer patients diagnosed between January 2001 and December 2015, focusing on treatment outcomes and the relative incidence of various tumor types.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pediatric patients under 19 years old diagnosed with primary malignant tumors in the pelvis.
Not a fit: Patients over 18 years old or those with malignant diseases primarily arising from the bone marrow will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of pediatric pelvic tumors and improve treatment strategies for affected children.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be limited studies specifically on pediatric pelvic tumors, the approach of retrospective data analysis has been successful in other oncology research.
