What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of telepsychiatry for diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children aged 24 months to 5 years. It utilizes the Brief Observation of Symptoms of Autism (BOSA) and a shortened version of the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) in a teleconsultation model, aiming to achieve diagnostic accuracy comparable to in-person assessments. The study is particularly relevant due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has limited traditional diagnostic methods. The goal is to determine if remote evaluations can provide timely and accurate diagnoses for children suspected of having ASD.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 24 months to 5 years with suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder whose families seek diagnostic evaluation.
Not a fit: Patients with confirmed sensory or motor disorders that are not compensated, or those lacking access to necessary technology for teleconsultation, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could facilitate earlier and more accessible diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder, leading to timely interventions.
How similar studies have performed: This approach is novel in France and Canada, as no similar projects have been undertaken previously.

Exclusion Criteria: * Lack of access to sufficient technology to participate in the protocol (teleconsultation). * Refusal to participate in the research. * Confirmed sensory or motor disorders (hearing or vision) that are not compensated (e.g., no glasses or hearing aids).
