What this trial studies

This cross-sectional observational project will enroll Thai adults aged 18 and older with severe asthma to determine how many meet remission criteria. Participants complete two questionnaires (GINA and ACT), undergo spirometry and a FeNO measurement, and have a single blood draw for eosinophil count during one visit. The study will measure the prevalence of remission and analyze associations with symptom scores, lung function, airway inflammation, and blood eosinophils. Data collection occurs at Thammasat University in Pathum Thani.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Thai adults age 18 or older with a clinical diagnosis of severe asthma who can perform spirometry and FeNO testing.

Not a fit: People with milder asthma, those unable to perform spirometry or FeNO, or those who cannot travel to the single site in Pathum Thani are unlikely to receive direct benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help clinicians understand how often remission occurs in severe asthma in Thailand and point to simple tests that help identify patients more likely to be in remission.

How similar studies have performed: Prior cross-sectional studies in other countries have reported remission rates and linked markers like FeNO and blood eosinophils, but data specifically for severe asthma in Thailand are limited.
