What this trial studies
This multicenter prospective registry collects data from patients diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) across 30 hospitals in South Korea. The Seoul National University Bundang Hospital serves as the coordination center for this initiative, which aims to gather comprehensive demographic, pulmonary function, laboratory data, and chest CT findings. By documenting the hospital course of IPF patients, the registry seeks to enhance understanding of the disease and improve patient management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this registry are patients diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis through a multidisciplinary discussion.
Not a fit: Patients with other interstitial lung diseases, connective tissue disease-related ILD, or exposure-related ILD will not benefit from this registry.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment strategies for patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
How similar studies have performed: While this registry approach is common in various diseases, the specific focus on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in South Korea may provide novel insights into the condition.
