What this trial studies
This observational study aims to create a multi-center registry of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) who are treated with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Eligible patients will be enrolled and their clinical characteristics will be documented. The study will involve longitudinal follow-up every three months for five years, collecting data from both patients and their neurologists. The primary goals are to explore the general characteristics of ALS patients using TCM and to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of various TCM treatments.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with ALS who are receiving treatment with traditional Chinese medicine.
Not a fit: Patients who do not consent to participate in the study will not benefit from the findings.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine for managing ALS symptoms.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on the effectiveness of TCM for ALS, this registry approach is novel and aims to gather comprehensive data for future analysis.
