What this trial studies

This observational study collects data from patients who are scheduled to undergo placement or retrieval of an Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) filter at Stanford University. Patients will be approached for consent prior to their procedure and, if they agree, their clinical data will be tracked over time to assess their progress and response to the treatment. The study aims to evaluate various protocols for filter removal, including advanced techniques like laser-assisted removal, through a comprehensive clinical registry.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are scheduled for IVC filter placement or retrieval.

Not a fit: Patients who are not undergoing an IVC filter procedure will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the understanding of IVC filter procedures and enhance patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is registry-based and may build on existing knowledge, it involves novel protocols for filter removal that have not been extensively tested in this format.
