What this trial studies

This observational study aims to create a biorepository by collecting blood and tissue samples from patients undergoing cerebrovascular procedures at the University of Kentucky. The goal is to identify biological markers and inflammatory cell infiltrates associated with acute ischemic stroke and other cerebrovascular disorders. Up to 1000 participants, aged 18 and older, will be enrolled, including those with suspected cerebrovascular disease. The study will evaluate specific proteins and leukocyte populations in the collected samples to enhance understanding of cerebrovascular diseases and support the development of new therapies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older undergoing cerebrovascular surgery or procedures at the University of Kentucky.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for patients with cerebrovascular diseases.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative in its focus on collecting and analyzing tissue and blood samples from cerebrovascular procedures, similar studies have shown promise in identifying biomarkers for other conditions.
