What this trial studies
The Registry on Percutaneous ElectroChemoTherapy (RESPECT) is an observational study designed to assess the effectiveness of percutaneous electrochemotherapy (ECT) in treating primary and secondary liver cancers. ECT utilizes reversible electroporation to enhance the delivery and efficacy of chemotherapeutic agents specifically targeting rapidly-dividing tumor cells while minimizing damage to surrounding tissues. This study aims to gather data on the safety and efficacy of ECT performed with the CLINIPORATOR® device, which has shown promise in previous limited studies. By focusing on a minimally invasive approach, the study seeks to provide insights into the benefits of reduced surgical complications and faster recovery times for patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with primary or secondary liver cancer who are referred for local ablative treatment.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant will not benefit from this study due to exclusion criteria.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could offer a safer and more effective treatment option for patients with liver cancer.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for electrochemotherapy in liver malignancies, although they were limited in scope and number of patients.
