What this trial studies
The BOOST registry and biobank aims to collect biological samples and health information from patients diagnosed with osteosarcoma and their biological family members. Participants will provide saliva, blood, and other diagnostic materials, along with detailed questionnaires about their health history and family medical background. The study seeks to enhance understanding of osteosarcoma by facilitating future research opportunities for participants and their families. Participants may also be contacted in the future for additional studies related to osteosarcoma and other conditions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with osteosarcoma and their biological parents and full siblings.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have a diagnosis of osteosarcoma or are not biological relatives of affected individuals may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could lead to improved understanding and treatment options for osteosarcoma patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this registry is novel, similar biobanks have shown success in advancing research in rare cancers.
