What this trial studies

This project aims to create a comprehensive register of patients diagnosed with uveal melanoma who were treated at the Medical University of Vienna from 1997 to 2021. By conducting a retrospective chart review, the study will collect data on patient characteristics, survival times, and disease progression. The goal is to enhance understanding of uveal melanoma and address the clinical needs associated with this condition, particularly given the challenges in conducting large cohort studies due to the rarity of the disease.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 to 99 who have been diagnosed with uveal melanoma.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years of age or those with incomplete clinical information will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this register could lead to improved management strategies and outcomes for patients with uveal melanoma.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been challenges in conducting large studies on uveal melanoma, retrospective analyses like this have the potential to yield valuable insights, although this specific approach may be novel.
