What this trial studies
This intervention focuses on the effectiveness of redispensing unused oral anticancer drugs to evaluate cost savings and environmental impact compared to standard disposal practices. Participants will receive their medications in sealed bags and are encouraged to return any unused drugs during their hospital visits. The study aims to assess both the financial and ecological benefits of this approach in cancer treatment. By comparing redispensing to traditional disposal, the research seeks to identify a more sustainable method for managing oral anticancer medications.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients of all ages with a clinical diagnosis of cancer who are prescribed oral anticancer drugs that can be stored at room temperature.
Not a fit: Patients who do not understand Dutch or English, or those receiving prescriptions that deviate from standard package sizes, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to significant cost savings and reduced environmental waste in cancer treatment.
How similar studies have performed: While the concept of redispensing unused medications is gaining attention, this specific approach to oral anticancer drugs is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
