What this trial studies
This observational project collects survey responses from English- and Spanish-speaking adolescents and young adults (ages 15–39) who were diagnosed with or treated for cancer during that age range. Participants complete the PRO-AYA questionnaires and a subset take part in cognitive interviews to check question clarity and language. The study performs psychometric and linguistic validation of a Spanish PRO-AYA version. Enrollment is conducted through Memorial Sloan Kettering regional sites in New Jersey.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are English- or Spanish-proficient individuals aged 15–39 who were diagnosed with cancer or received cancer treatment between ages 15–39 and can complete questionnaires (with assistance if needed), with Cohort 1 also meeting the specified treatment-timing and performance-status criteria.
Not a fit: People outside the 15–39 age range, those not proficient in English or Spanish, or those unable to complete questionnaires are unlikely to receive direct benefit from this project.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If validated, these questionnaires could help clinicians and researchers better track symptoms, side effects, and quality of life for adolescents and young adults with cancer.
How similar studies have performed: Other PRO validation studies in cancer populations have often yielded reliable measures, though PRO-AYA's specific focus on adolescents and young adults and its Spanish linguistic validation are more specialized efforts.
