What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effects of a pulmonary rehabilitation program on patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Participants will be randomized into an intervention group, receiving 12 sessions of pulmonary rehabilitation over 4-6 weeks, or a control group, receiving general recommendations for physical activity. The study will assess improvements in pulmonary function, muscle mass, exercise tolerance, inflammatory response, quality of life, and overall survival. Nutritional assessments and interventions will also be provided to both groups as needed.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with advanced non-small cell lung cancer who have a good performance status and are eligible for chemotherapy or tyrosine kinase inhibitors.

Not a fit: Patients with symptomatic brain metastasis, uncontrolled pain, or those who regularly engage in moderate to intense physical activity may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the quality of life and survival outcomes for patients with advanced lung cancer.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with pulmonary rehabilitation in lung cancer patients, suggesting this approach has potential benefits.
