What this trial studies
This program offers comprehensive low vision rehabilitation services to children aged 3-21 in Tennessee who have vision impairments. Each year, 90 new students are enrolled based on referrals from schools and eye care professionals. Participants receive evaluations from low vision optometrists and are prescribed optical devices tailored to their individual needs. Trained teachers of the visually impaired provide in-home or school-based training to help students effectively use these devices.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 3 to 21 years with a best-corrected vision of 20/50 or worse who are enrolled in a school in Tennessee.
Not a fit: Children who do not have the potential to become readers or use their vision for reading may not benefit from this program.
