What this trial studies
This project aims to enhance physical activity among osteoarthritis patients by testing the acceptability and feasibility of a mobile application called PIANISSIMO. The app will provide daily notifications to encourage physical activity, allow participants to set weekly step goals, and collect data on their daily steps and pain levels through self-administered questionnaires. The intervention will last for six months, followed by a six-month follow-up period, with participants acting as their own controls in this single-group pilot study. The study will recruit 150 participants from the general population in Luxembourg.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are osteoarthritis patients living or working in Luxembourg who can understand and comply with the study procedures.
Not a fit: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis will not benefit from this study as they are excluded from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved physical activity levels and reduced pain for patients with osteoarthritis.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using mobile applications to promote physical activity, making this approach promising yet still novel in the context of osteoarthritis.
