What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effects of a tailored, optimized, and person-centered program aimed at promoting lifestyle modifications in individuals with metabolic syndrome. It employs a mixed-methods approach, including a 2-arm randomized controlled trial and qualitative assessments, with evaluations conducted at baseline, after 12 weeks of intervention, and again at 20 weeks. The study will take place in multiple community centers across Hong Kong, targeting Chinese adults who meet specific criteria for metabolic syndrome.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Chinese adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome and are independent in daily living.
Not a fit: Patients with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases or significant psychiatric disorders may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the management of metabolic syndrome and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases in affected individuals.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with lifestyle modification programs for metabolic syndrome, indicating potential for success in this approach.
