What this trial studies
This community-based program aims to detect and prevent young onset diabetes in adults aged 18 to 44 by utilizing biogenetic markers and digital tools. Participants without known diabetes but with at least one risk factor will undergo saliva DNA and capillary blood tests, along with a questionnaire to assess their risk levels. Those identified as high-risk will receive annual oral glucose tolerance tests and personalized reports on their genetic and modifiable risks, while all participants will have access to educational webinars for two years. The program emphasizes integrated care through public-private partnerships.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 44 with at least one risk factor for diabetes.
Not a fit: Patients with a known history of diabetes or those deemed unsuitable by the project team will not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce the incidence of young onset diabetes and improve health outcomes for at-risk individuals.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using genetic and lifestyle interventions to prevent diabetes, indicating a promising approach.
