What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on inpatients diagnosed with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) who are admitted to Tongji Hospital in Wuhan. It aims to collect and analyze various patient data, including demographics, medical history, complications, and laboratory test results, to understand the prognosis of ACLF complicated by bacterial or fungal infections. Patients will be categorized into groups based on their infection status, and their clinical outcomes will be monitored over time. The study will run from March 2023 to June 2025.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 to 80 with chronic hepatitis B and significant liver dysfunction.
Not a fit: Patients with primary liver cancer, severe comorbidities, or those outside the specified age range may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the understanding of ACLF prognosis and lead to better management strategies for patients with infections.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on ACLF, the specific focus on infection-related prognosis in this context is relatively novel.
