What this trial studies
This project aims to address health inequalities among immigrant families in Norway by developing and implementing a culturally adapted intervention program focused on oral health and nutrition for parents of newborns. The study will assess the attitudes and behaviors of these parents regarding their children's oral hygiene and dietary habits. By providing tailored information and support, the project seeks to enhance parental knowledge and ultimately improve health outcomes for their children. A follow-up will evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention on parents' knowledge and attitudes over time.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are parents of newborn infants (0-6 months) who have a non-Western immigrant background.
Not a fit: Parents who cannot understand and sign a consent form or are unwilling to follow the clinical trial procedures may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce the incidence of dental caries and obesity in children from immigrant backgrounds.
How similar studies have performed: While culturally adapted health interventions have shown promise in other contexts, this specific approach targeting immigrant parents in Norway is relatively novel.
