What this trial studies
This protocol focuses on prescreening individuals who may have food allergies and are interested in participating in clinical studies at Stanford University. Participants will undergo a thorough evaluation to determine their eligibility for the gold standard food challenge, which is essential for accurate diagnosis. The study aims to streamline the enrollment process for future clinical trials related to food allergies. By identifying suitable candidates, the research center can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its studies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with a clinical history suggestive of food allergies who are willing to undergo a food challenge for diagnosis.
Not a fit: Patients who do not consent, are currently taking oral steroids, or have moderate to severe asthma may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment options for individuals with food allergies.
How similar studies have performed: While this prescreening protocol is a common practice, the specific approach at Stanford may offer novel insights into food allergy research.
