What this trial studies
This research focuses on a prehabilitation program designed for patients with lung cancer who are scheduled for lung resection surgery. The program includes education, inspiratory muscle training, physical activity coaching, and home-based exercise training, all supported by a mobile app and weekly telehealth sessions with a physiotherapist. Participants will be assessed on their lung function, respiratory muscle strength, and functional capacity before and after the intervention to evaluate its effectiveness in improving their physical and respiratory function in preparation for surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with lung cancer and scheduled for lung resection surgery who can understand English and use a smartphone.
Not a fit: Patients with other cancer diagnoses, those scheduled for surgery in less than one week, or individuals with unstable psychiatric or cognitive disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could enhance recovery and reduce hospital stay for lung cancer patients undergoing surgery.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with prehabilitation approaches in surgical patients, indicating potential success for this intervention.
