What this trial studies
This observational study aims to develop a preoperative risk score to predict the likelihood of right ventricular dysfunction (RVD) following cardiac surgery. It will analyze various preoperative factors, including echocardiographic parameters, patient demographics, and surgical details, to identify high-risk patients. By establishing a predictive model, the study seeks to enhance monitoring and treatment strategies for those undergoing cardiac procedures. Data will be collected retrospectively from patients who had surgery at a specific medical center over a defined period.

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old undergoing elective or urgent cardiac surgery.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old or those receiving inotropic therapy at the time of surgery may not benefit from this study.

Inclusion Criteria: * age \> 18 years * elective or urgent cardiac surgery at Campus BioMedico between January 2016 to December 2023 * postoperative echocardiogram execution * ASA class I-IV Exclusion Criteria: * age \< 18 years * inotropic therapy at the time of surgery
