Predicting mortality in bloodstream infections using machine learning
Machine Learning in the ICU: Predicting Mortality in Patients With Carbapenem-Resistant Gram-Negative Bacilli Bloodstream Infections

What this trial studies
This study aims to utilize machine learning techniques to predict mortality in patients with Carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacilli bloodstream infections in the intensive care unit. By analyzing patient data collected from June 2017 to June 2023, the study will retrospectively evaluate risk factors and outcomes in two subgroups of patients. The goal is to develop a scoring system that can enhance early intervention and treatment strategies, potentially reducing mortality rates associated with these severe infections.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients aged 18 and older who were treated in the intensive care unit for Carbapenem-resistant bloodstream infections.
Not a fit: Patients under the age of 18 or those with infections other than bloodstream infections will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved patient outcomes by enabling timely and effective treatment for those at high risk of mortality from bloodstream infections.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with machine learning approaches in predicting outcomes in critical care settings, indicating a promising avenue for this research.
Eligibility criteria
