Predicting early surgery needs in Crohn's disease using imaging data

Study of Imaginomics Predicting Early Surgical Rates in Crohn's Disease

Sixth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University · NCT05174208

What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on patients with Crohn's disease (CD) to develop a digital prognostic model that predicts the risk of early surgical intervention. By utilizing radiomics from CTE examinations, the study aims to create a nomogram that can assist clinicians in identifying patients at higher risk for complications requiring surgery. The goal is to enhance therapeutic strategies and improve patient outcomes through better risk assessment. Participants will be followed for more than a year to gather comprehensive data.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with a confirmed diagnosis of Crohn's disease who have not undergone previous intestinal surgeries and have complete CTE data.

Not a fit: Patients who have had previous intestinal surgeries or those without a confirmed diagnosis of Crohn's disease will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a valuable tool for predicting surgical needs in Crohn's disease patients, leading to timely interventions and improved management.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of radiomics in predicting surgical outcomes is an emerging field, similar studies have shown promise in other conditions, suggesting potential success for this approach in Crohn's disease.
