Predicting bleeding and hemoglobin levels after liposuction
Effect of Using a Mathematical Model Based on pre-and Post-surgical Hemoglobin Differences to Determine the Volume to Aspirate in Primary Body Liposuction.
Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social · NCT06453772
This study is trying to see if a new formula can help predict how much bleeding and hemoglobin levels patients will have after they undergo liposuction.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate a mathematical model that predicts postoperative hemoglobin levels and bleeding volume in patients undergoing primary body liposuction. By analyzing preoperative hemoglobin, Body Mass Index (BMI), and the volume of fat removed, the researchers seek to establish a formula that can help anticipate blood loss during the procedure. The study involves patients at the Centro Médico Nacional de Occidente and employs statistical analysis to validate the predictive accuracy of the model.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 60 undergoing large volume liposuction with regional anesthesia.
Not a fit: Patients with comorbidities such as systemic arterial hypertension or diabetes mellitus type 2 may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help reduce the risk of postoperative anemia and improve patient outcomes following liposuction.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited literature on this specific predictive approach, similar studies have shown the importance of preoperative assessments in surgical outcomes.
