Pre-anesthesia imaging assessment for predicting intubation difficulties
Pre-anesthesia Imaging-based Respiratory Assessment and Analysis
This study is testing whether using special imaging before surgery can help doctors predict if a patient might have trouble being intubated during anesthesia.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to create a database for preoperative respiratory imaging assessments and develop a predictive model for difficult intubation risks. By analyzing various risk factors and utilizing advanced AI technologies, the study seeks to enhance the accuracy of intubation risk predictions. The ultimate goal is to integrate this model into a clinical decision support system to aid anesthesiologists in evaluating patients' respiratory status before surgery. The study aligns with updated guidelines emphasizing comprehensive respiratory assessments.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients scheduled for general anesthesia who can participate in pre-anesthetic consultations and airway examinations.
Not a fit: Patients requiring emergency surgery or those unable to undergo pre-anesthetic consultations will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve the safety and effectiveness of anesthesia by providing better predictions for difficult intubation.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been attempts to create predictive models for difficult intubation, the effectiveness of these models has not met expectations, indicating that this approach may address an unresolved clinical issue.
