What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of pranayama yoga practices on individuals diagnosed with Stage I and II Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). It employs a randomized controlled design to assess changes in respiratory parameters, symptom severity, and fatigue levels among participants. The study aims to enhance healthcare compliance and psychosocial adjustment through structured yoga interventions. Participants will engage in deep breathing exercises designed to improve lung function and overall well-being.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 40-65 with a diagnosis of Stage I or II COPD who have not previously practiced pranayama yoga.
Not a fit: Patients with Stage III or IV COPD or those under 40 or over 65 years old may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve respiratory function and quality of life for patients with COPD.
How similar studies have performed: While pranayama yoga has been explored in other contexts, this specific application to COPD is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
