POLE gene changes in high-risk endometrial cancer

The Role of POLE Mutation in High Risk Endometrial Cancer.

Observational Far Eastern Memorial Hospital · NCT07114653

This project will test whether women with high-risk endometrial cancer have POLE gene mutations and whether those mutations change recurrence or survival.

What this trial studies

This observational, single-center analysis will review high-risk and recurrent endometrial cancer cases treated at a tertiary referral hospital and perform POLE mutation testing on available tumor samples. The prevalence of POLE mutations in this real-world high-risk population will be reported. Clinical outcomes including recurrence and overall survival will be compared between POLE-mutant and non-mutant cases using survival analysis and appropriate statistical methods. The dataset is retrospective and limited to patients treated at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Women with high-risk or recurrent endometrial cancer who were treated at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital and have tumor tissue available for POLE testing.

Not a fit: Patients without high-risk disease, those treated outside the study center, or those lacking adequate tumor tissue are unlikely to benefit directly from this analysis.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help clinicians better predict prognosis and tailor follow-up or treatment decisions for women with high-risk endometrial cancer.

How similar studies have performed: Prior research in endometrial cancer has shown POLE mutations are relatively uncommon and often associated with favorable outcomes, but evidence specific to high-risk or recurrent cases is limited.
