Personalized treatment approach for colorectal cancer
Pilot Study for Ex Vivo Tailoring of Treatment in Colorectal Cancer
This study is testing a new way to find the best cancer treatments for people with colorectal cancer by using their own tumor samples to see how different drugs work together.

What this trial studies
This study aims to establish a reliable method for personalized drug testing using fresh tumor samples from colorectal cancer patients. Investigators will develop a predictive biomarker for immunotherapy response by testing combinations of chemotherapies and CAR T cells on patient-derived organoids. The primary objective is to provide a methodology for drug screening that can identify effective therapies tailored to individual patients, while the secondary objective explores how pre-treatment with cytotoxic agents can enhance immunotherapy efficacy against solid tumors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients with histologically confirmed colorectal cancer who are scheduled for curative surgery.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable or unwilling to sign the informed consent form will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more effective personalized treatment options for colorectal cancer patients who currently do not respond to standard therapies.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using personalized drug testing and organoid models for cancer treatment, indicating a potential for success in this approach.
