What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of oncological perineal massage in alleviating pain during sexual intercourse and preventing vaginal stenosis in women diagnosed with gynecological cancers. Participants will receive health education related to pelvic floor health and undergo ten weekly sessions of perineal massage lasting fifty minutes each. The goal is to enhance the quality of life for cancer patients experiencing these specific complications. The study aims to provide evidence for a non-invasive treatment approach in oncology physiotherapy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 18 to 52 with a diagnosis of dyspareunia and vaginal stenosis related to cancer treatments.
Not a fit: Patients who had dyspareunia or vaginal narrowing prior to cancer diagnosis or those who have undergone certain surgical treatments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could significantly improve sexual health and quality of life for women suffering from cancer-related complications.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of perineal massage in this context may be novel, similar studies have shown promising results in improving quality of life for cancer patients.
