Pelvic floor exercises and support belt for pubic symphysis pain
Effects of Pelvic Floor Exercises With and Without Pelvic Support Belt on Pain, Functions and Disability Among Post-partum Females With Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction

What this trial studies
This randomized clinical trial will enroll multigravida women diagnosed with pubic symphysis dysfunction and randomize them to a pelvic floor exercise program with or without a pelvic support belt. Participants will follow a supervised and home-based exercise regimen and, if assigned, wear a standardized pelvic support device for the prescribed period. Pain intensity and functional outcomes will be measured at baseline and at follow-up visits to determine benefit. The trial is conducted at clinical sites in Pakistan affiliated with Riphah International University and participating hospitals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are multigravida females diagnosed with symphysis pubis dysfunction who can safely perform physical activity and have not previously undergone pelvic floor therapy.
Not a fit: Primigravida women, those with significant neurological disorders or other pelvic floor conditions (such as fecal or urinary incontinence), or anyone unable to perform the exercises are unlikely to benefit from this trial.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the approach could provide a low-cost, non-surgical way to reduce pelvic pain and improve daily function for affected women.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies and clinical guidance have reported modest improvements with pelvic floor exercises and pelvic support belts for pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain, though results are variable.
