What this trial studies

This randomized control trial investigates the feasibility and efficacy of the Mood Lifters program, designed specifically for undergraduate students. The program aims to enhance mental health by providing peer-led support through weekly meetings and flexible options, focusing on improving engagement and reducing negative feelings such as depression and loneliness. By addressing the high costs of traditional one-on-one therapy, this initiative seeks to make mental health care more accessible to students who need it. The study will evaluate how effectively this approach can be implemented within a university setting.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are undergraduate students aged 18 and older who are seeking to improve their mental health.

Not a fit: Patients with active suicidal thoughts, psychosis, borderline personality disorder, or mania may not benefit from this program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could provide an effective and low-cost mental health support option for undergraduate students.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with peer-led mental health interventions, indicating potential for this approach to be effective.
