What this trial studies

This feasibility project tests a Medical Decision Support System (MDSS) that matches individual patient characteristics to French National Authority for Health (HAS) screening recommendations and presents personalized screening suggestions in primary care. The protocol combines a quantitative ADER-F assessment with individual semi‑directed interviews of patients and semi‑directed interviews or focus groups with primary care professionals to evaluate usability and acceptability. The MDSS is designed to help clinicians identify eligible patients, inform them about screening options, and support shared decision-making that incorporates patients' values and preferences. The study is conducted at several primary care sites in the Lyon area to observe real-world implementation barriers, including limited consultation time and infrequent patient contact.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18–74 who attend participating general practices, can read and speak French, and provide written consent are eligible to participate.

Not a fit: People under legal protection, with psychiatric disorders impairing judgment, who are pregnant or breastfeeding, not covered by social security, or otherwise excluded from the protocol will not be included and therefore are unlikely to benefit from this project.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the MDSS could increase the number of patients who receive the right preventive screenings on time and improve shared decision-making between patients and their primary care clinicians.

How similar studies have performed: Other clinical decision support tools have shown mixed but sometimes positive effects on preventive care delivery, while truly patient-centered MDSS deployments in routine primary care remain relatively novel.
