What this trial studies

Researchers compare low-income parents who take a 10-week online program with parents who do not to see if the program changes life satisfaction and symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression. Before and after the program parents complete 45–60 minute online interviews measuring life satisfaction, positive and negative emotions, stress, anxiety, depression, parenting practices, and their children's behavior and screen use. During the intervention parents watch short videos, answer quizzes, and complete simple home activities for about 30–45 minutes per week, and half of participants also receive a weekly video call with a psychologist. Outcomes are compared between groups after the program and participants who took the program also complete a satisfaction questionnaire.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Parents aged 19 or older who live with a child aged 3–6 who attends public school, who are low-income and have internet access and a digital device, would be the intended participants.

Not a fit: Parents under 19, those whose child has a chronic disease or genetic syndrome, and anyone without reliable internet or a digital device would be excluded and thus would not be helped by this online program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could improve parent life satisfaction and reduce stress, anxiety and depression, potentially benefiting family functioning and early childhood environments.

How similar studies have performed: Previous online parenting and mental-health support programs have shown modest improvements in parental well-being in some studies, though results vary and evidence in low-income Brazilian samples is limited.
