What this trial studies

This project evaluates the Incredible Years Autism Spectrum and Language Delay Programme, a parenting intervention designed for parents of children aged 2-6 diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study aims to empower parents by providing them with effective strategies to manage the challenges associated with raising a child with ASD. By conducting a multi-center randomized controlled trial across three Norwegian clinics, the research seeks to establish evidence-based practices that can improve both parental well-being and child outcomes. The focus is on reducing parental stress and enhancing the effectiveness of interventions for children with ASD.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are parents of children aged 2-6 who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

Not a fit: Parents who do not speak sufficient Norwegian to participate without an interpreter or those experiencing a major family crisis may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the quality of life for both parents and children affected by autism spectrum disorders.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited evidence for parental programs in this context, some studies have indicated that similar interventions can lead to improved outcomes for children with ASD.
