What this trial studies

This study investigates the impact of a group-based pain neuroscience education program on patients suffering from chronic musculoskeletal pain. The approach focuses on promoting neuroplasticity and restructuring maladaptive cognitions that contribute to persistent pain. By examining the relationship between brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels and pain perception, the study aims to establish a neurophysiological basis for therapeutic strategies in physiotherapy. Participants will be educated on pain mechanisms to potentially improve their quality of life.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are males and females aged 18 to 65 years with chronic musculoskeletal pain lasting at least 3 months.

Not a fit: Patients with systemic, neurological, oncological, or inflammatory diseases, as well as those with psychiatric conditions or pregnancy, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide new therapeutic strategies to help patients manage chronic pain more effectively.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar educational approaches in managing chronic pain, indicating potential for success.
