What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the survival outcomes of patients who have undergone surgical resection for brain metastases. It focuses on understanding how various patient and perioperative characteristics, along with specific prognostic indicators, influence survival rates. The study aims to identify which groups of patients may benefit most from surgical intervention, considering the complexities associated with brain metastases compared to primary brain tumors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients with a clinical diagnosis of brain metastasis who have undergone craniotomy surgery.
Not a fit: Patients who underwent stereotactic biopsy or did not have sufficient data for associated factors may not receive benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify patients who are more likely to benefit from surgical resection, potentially improving survival outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on prognostic factors for primary brain tumors, this specific focus on brain metastases and their surgical outcomes is less explored, making it a novel approach.
